TeaHouse: Joeseon Dynasty Korea. 14-1500 CE || Population: 3,000 || A small, fictional island set off the south eastern coast of Korea. TeaHouse + Bathhouse, the estate functions as a bed and breakfast of sorts. Wealthy guests travel from throughout the world for the teas, baths and 'exotic pleasures' of the island.
Located on a hill nestled within the forests of the island, the Teahouse sits well above the surrounding village. A dark, enchanting visage among the otherwise natural browns and greens of the landscape. Steps lead toward the welcoming mouth, an embellished red gate, two entry-men -- statuesque in their rigidity -- to welcome patrons. The world inside, sprawling outwards, curling, twisting bending into shapes that pull you further in.
Spacious rooms, idyllic gardens and beautiful hosts to drink with, the Teahouse is understandably a yangban's favored get away.

Gardens: Sitting behind the Teahouse, sits several meters of trimmed gardens, styled foliage and murmuring ponds. Lanterns light the walk ways to and from the various buildings of the Mun Estate as they travel over pond and piece their way through brilliant-soft clover.
Carved stone peek through the greenery, idols of legendary protectors, forms of the family crest. Covered benches allow visitors to rest, admire. What a memory to make.
BathHouse: Warm browns, heated floors and bubbling baths, the BathHouse holds both the mineral pools as well as the sleeping rooms for guests. Several buildings make up what is collectively known as the Bath House; each with its own collection of pools and bedrooms. Covered hallways connect on the outer perimeter, branching bridges to each building for flow of staff.
Tree and mountain and blue sky, many a court artist commissioned to capture a memory. The mountains snow-capped crests peek between the clouds, blinking in and out at night. The sun is warm in the warmer months, winters mild comparatively and in the forests, something alive.
Village: filled with workers, merchants, laborers, mothers, children and more, the village is a densely populated tangle of homes, shops, and markets. Browns, greys, blues and beige. Haggard faces and work-weary bones. The life is simple and predictable, something cherished among its residents.
Laborers, fishermen, tailors, cooks - yet the most coveted position; the Teahouse. Forboding in its size, awe-some in its glamour, the riches that pour in from countries-wide. A ticket to wealth, a ticket to splendor, a ticket out.
Forests: Cool, green-damp ferns packed densely amongst one another. The grasses sway atop wet dirt, the smell of cool earth wrapping round with a cold weight over the things that live within the shadows. Trickling feather-tips of mist slither along the ground. Liminal in its vastness, the gloom-dark canopy blots out the other world.
Whispering leaves, their voices carry on the wind. Life living, earth breathing, shadows warp in chthonic patterns. Stalker. Tracing shapes, reformed steps. Battle scars...
Stay out of the Forest.
- All Players can write an intermediate level or above. Multi-paragraph posts (minimum of 2 paragraphs per post).
- Timely + Communicative. We all have responsibilities. Nobody expects a day-to-day itinerary. Letting the group know if you'll be away is expected. Ghosting will get you kicked.
- Posting speeds: 9 Days from your last interaction.
(ie. you're Char B interacting with Char A + C. You have 9 days from A + C's most recent post date to reply.)
- This rp is based in the second Joseon Dynasty on a fictional island between what is now Korea and Japan. All characters should be from somewhere within the grander Asian continent. (Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia Philippines, India, etc)
- All non-human creatures should match your characters ETHNIC origin. It does NOT have to match their place of residence. (ie. an Oni can live in Vietnam but is not ethnically vietnamese. The character would be ethnically Japanese and live in vietnam)
- This IS an NSFW roleplay. Spicy content is expected. Please put all explicit/NSFW content under a spoiler.
- That being said, this is a plot-focused group rp.
- Respect all member + character pronouns. If you wanna be funny, watch me be hilarious.
We'll be playing as a mix of human and non-humans; villagers, foreign guests, and TeaHouse staff - coexisting together, much to the human's ignorance. Behind the doors of the TeaHouse, everything seems fine. Though, it's hard to notice much in the face of luxury and excess. What could possibly go wrong when one's desires are being fulfilled? Some come for business, others pleasure, and the rare few...comes for secrets.
All characters species must match characters ethnic orgin. ie. a Gumiho is from Korea while a Kitsune is from Japan even though both are fox spirits. Let's do our best to show respect to the cultures we are borrowing from.

HAIR:
A dark raven's black about waist length with uneven layers. It is thick and has a healthy shine to it, but the texture is wavy. When not maintained her usual low braided bun, Ji Ah's hair sits wild upon her head. Its texture causes hair strands to raise in unusual angles.
BUILD:
Ji Ah stands at a towering 6'1" in height. Her human form is that of woman, however, the "curves" of femininity are minimal. Making her athletic frame quite androgynous.
Ji Ah likes to think she is a woman of few words, untouchable,unapproachable so reserved not even her residence in known. This is not far from the truth. Her past experiences have created a tough exterior around her heart, a level of caution around everyone that cannot be shaken. That does not mean she lacks the emotions to be soft. Ji Ah is still caring by nature. Her strong sense of justice makes it difficult for her to ignore wrong doings and those in need. Though reserved she is considerate, taking time out of her days to help local villagers when needed. Or providing guidance to the island guards. Though unapproachable at times the woman has friends. Close and revered relationships, Ji Ah is most loyal to those who show loyalty to her. Willing to take on danger if it means keeping the people she loves safe.

SPECIES MYTHOS:
Haetae are Mythical beings common in east Asian mythology. All iterations of the chimera like creature of either Lion, goat, dog or Unicorn genetics. They are described as large muscular beings, with scaled bodies, sharp fangs, and one to two horns growing from their head. Their tails are often short and tufted at the end, or long in incredibly fluffy. Some Heatae's are described to have feathers and scales adorn their body.
The Haetae's that reside in Korea are revered for their ability to know right from wrong and pass judgment on humans accordingly. Haetae's are also known to ward off fires and natural disasters. If a settlement of humans has proved their righteousness to a Haetae it will protect the settlement from nature's wrath. However, if the humans fall out of favor, Haetae's will allow for the fires and disasters to wipe them out. When a Haetae finds a human to be unjust, it swiftly distributes punishment by impaling the human with the horn on it's head.
To invite the protection of a Haetae, statues are erected in their honor in many settlements and offerings are made to keep the deity's favor. It's not recorded if Haetae need food or even respond to offerings but none the less they find themselves around human settlements to keep the balance between the humans and nature.
ABILITIES:
Distinguish lies from truth- To aid in their duty to uphold justice, Haetae can sense when a person is telling the truth or not.
Strength- Known for their muscular bodies Haetae's are stronger than the average human.
Shifting- The deity is able to shift between its natural form and a human form as to interact with humans better. Though they still keep some features of their natural form.
LIMITATIONS:
Distinguish Lies from truth- The Haetae in question has to be the one to ask the question in order to discern the sincerity of the answer. They cannot accurately know if a conversation is overheard or someone else in their presence asks the question instead of them.
Strength- In their human form Haetae can lift as much as a human man in their peak physical form. In their natural form their amount of strength is equivalent to a force greater than 2 tons
Haetae- Must be in good health to shift into human form. Haetae that are injured/sick remain in their natural form until health/energy is restored. On the same note, Haetae who are injured in human form take their natural form in order to heal quicker.
BIOGRAPHY:
Ji Ah was a Haetae of the mainland, unlike others of her kind she wasn't incredibly fond of humans. Only interacting when they disturbed the balance of the forest. Their sense of justice skewed. Ji Ah preferred being away from them. It became harder as the humans grew in numbers and their homesteads increased with size. Eventually to keep the lush grander of her forest Ji Ah implanted herself of the guardian of a large settlement.
Unfortunately the humans of this settlement were greedy and unjust, starving the unfortunate many that did not have monetary status. Their greed caused wars, and those wars caused her forest to burn. The fires were so bright Ji Ah could not put them out, and she did not want too as the flames engulfed most of the unjust humans that day. She only felt sad for the humans that lost their lives due to no sin of their own.
Ji Ah soon after fled to the island. With it being mostly of dense forest and few humans, a body of land trapped in water with no access to war she stayed. Hiding herself in the mountains. Still, because of her proclivity to justice she ventured to the village every so often. The islanders didn't commit many heinous crimes so Ji Ah did little punishing and lived a relatively quiet life for decades.
Until she found the presence of Mi Cha. Ji Ah remembered her face, as she did many other innocent humans, from the fire that engulfed her forest on the mainland. The sense of relief soon turned to guilt, as Ji Ah felt responsible for the young woman's disposition. She wanted to make things right with Mi Cha and helped the Gumiho turn her life around. Through Mi Cha's process of building a new reputation for herself and the village, Ji Ah found herself interacting with humans more than she had had in decades. Even creating a guard force to the protect the villagers as well as help solve disputes and common issues.
BODY MODS:
Although Ji Ah is a strong deity it takes much energy to mask all of her natural traits, So some phenotypes are unusual for a standard human. Like her thick nail beds that grow nails at more upright angle almost like claws. Ji Ah's teeth are also sharper than average, her canines bigger and longer than a normal human's. The scales that cover Ji ah's body are blue in color, to reduce the energy needed to mask them she has several blue "birthmarks" (humans would know them as Mongolian Spots) all over, slightly rougher than the other parts of her skin.
EXTRA:
- A awkward friendship between herself and the Noguri Ji U, she isn't used to interacting with other creatures.
- When a young orphaned boy found himself on the Island Ji Ah was tasked with the responsibility of raising him. Though he is an adult now Ji ah still on occasion babies him (Though she won't admit to it)
