I've seen the #Nostalgia tag popping up and people getting ideas from one another in the profile posts area and it had my thoughts percolating...

We all have rose-tinted glasses for our old partners and good stories - what story are you feeling the most nostalgic about now?

Mine was a long-term on and off AU with a friend I met on GaiaOnline. I was younger than and didn't care about something being 'cringe'. It felt good LOL.

What about y'all? I'd love to hear about them

Mine are two, technically.
One of which we're somewhat doing a new version of, which was this werewolf x human mate type deal. It's a pretty different version but I love both.

The other one is another favorite of mine that brings up a lot of sad emotions for me b/c of who it was with. It was my RWBY FxF roleplay that was just so much fun, I keep trying to replace it, but it's not the same obviously.

There was a D&D campaign I played over a forum many years ago. I started playing it in early 2012 and it ended in the fall of 2015. We took our characters from level 1 to level 6 over the course of three off-the-shelf campaign modules, but more than that, I got to develop my character from a cynical hooligan into something of a reluctant party leader and watch her really grow in depth (and also pursue a mild romance with one of the NPCs).

Part of this was because only me and one other player stuck around for the whole duration while everyone else dropped in the first year, and the other guy didn't have much initiative, so strategic decisions tended to fall on my shoulders alone. But even with it being just two players vs. the DM, I was fully invested in that campaign. Even when a final boss battle killed half the party and left us broken and directionless, my character survived the defeat, a hardened and bitter anti-heroine, almost like what Sarah Connor turned into in the years between T1 and T2.

I tried to reuse that character in 1x1 RP a few times after that, but it never really worked out. Taking an old character with a lot of history and then expecting someone new to interface with that in a way that feels meaningful is bound to result in disappointment.

In high school, I had a friend who introduced me to Naruto, and I immediately fell in love. I hadn't been a huge fan of anime before then, but it was a whole new world! So naturally, my first roleplay was Naruto, with the very same friend who introduced me to it. It was absolutely hilarious.

I RP'd as Sasuke, and she was Naruto. There wasn't any romance other than the canon-compliant Naruto pining after Sakura in the wackiest of ways.

I lost connection with my friend after she moved away in eleventh grade, and I hope one day we can reconnect. I think I'm most nostalgic about it because of how much fun it was. Just us being kids and writing as our favorite characters doing things we could only dream of.

I sometimes feel nostalgic for my original rp home- it was a fan site for a popular fantasy series of the time, but they had a baby little rp/writer's section. We could write fantastical nonsense together for months/years. We always used the same characters in an ever evolving world...

Good times!

I've actually been in the process of reviving an old story about mermaids, magic, and the power of anime that two friends and myself spent most of high school creating. It's been a novel experience reading a story that, as a writer at my present age, I wouldn't really consider to my tastes. Things were allowed to be a little more low stakes, more room for humor and chaos, happy endings and filler-episode-esque scenes of pure character interaction. Also way more brightly colored, haha.

It's been fun relearning and working on reviving it as a visual novel. Though most of the nostalgia comes from the sleepovers with those friends I first made it with, where we'd work on it in between horror films and junk food.

While I have plenty of stories that... went, and would like to return to, one of them that is actually pretty old that I miss the most and probably had the best writing partner with was a enemies-turned-friends-turned-eventual lovers. Though in a form of a fairly basic fantasy world with a human and an elf as the main pair.

It was a RP with some actual tension between the characters for how much they disliked each other, hated even, but had to be withing talking distance when working together to figure out a true evil that's really been the cause of the split in races.

It's almost too rare to come across someone who can actually follow along with the request to go for a long, proper, slow burn. Not the near instant hook-up make ups that completely undermine the idea that there's supposed to be a long history of conflict between them that's difficult to get over from.

All the stories I've had with my hubby all hold special memories, some of the stories are still active after a few years of moving sites and everything. I guess one of them has to be our power ranger rp it holds a special place in our hearts because we both love power rangers and got to meet the green ranger from mighty morphin. Another Rp is Hearts War based on Greek mythology a twist on Hades and persephone. But I can't pick just one.

Right now I'm missing the story I loved the most with the partner that we revamped it but life happens so we haven't even spoken in like a month so ya know.

I'm feeling a bit wistful for the RPs I had with an ex (partner and boyfriend.) I wish I had copied them all, but alas I did not. I think I'm MOSTLY wistful because we had multiple RPs that came to the stories completion. Which is SO rare. (It was also back when I could post multiple times a day... but looking back I'm not sure that was a healthy thing. Still there was rarely a time I was blocked up for writing.)

There were a couple PaladinxNecromancer ones with enemies to lovers that *chefs kiss*

Part of me wants to reach out and be like 'Hey you know those RPs we did a decade ago? Do you have copies??' Nostalgia is a pretty powerful emotion. No, I will not be reaching out to them. xD
