hi. just wanna have a thread for people to talk bout books, as i love to read and have recently gotten back into both reading and writing as of this year.

currently, ive picked up and been reading the following.

the alchemist
(reread)the dangerous days of daniel x (James Patterson)
(revisit) the witch and the wizard (James Patterson)
classic westerns by Zane Grey (riders of the purple sage & the rainbow trail).
(almost finished) making contact by alen steinfield

trying to get my hands on the false prince from the local library.

last book i read fully/finished was Jeannette McCurdy's book im glad my mom died.

i really enjoy young adult novels even as ive aged, haha. i find James Patterson's work really entertaining and i enjoy the somewhat spiritual/metaphysical take and ideas he tends to have in his fantasy stories. I read all of his maximum ride series as a teen and then ventered into some of his other novels.

going to start reading some L.A Banks, as my beloved mum loaned me the first book in a series that is about vampire hunters. yessir!!!

I am a HUGE Gena Showalter fan. She's your typical paranormal romance writer, but Lords of the Underworld is Aces. Like oomph, ok yeah its all hetero, but still worth the read. The series is *chef's kiss*

And I'll have to circle back a few times to get everything I've read, cuz I'm an Audible freak. And my personal library is pretty decent lolz

Currently rereading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan
I took a break after the fourth book to read two other books of the same story. A Voice in the Wind and An Echo in the Darkness by Francine Rivers.
My grandmother introduced me to her being the religious woman she is. But after reading the books I was quite shocked she enjoyed and recommended them to me. The author, Rivers, takes a lesson from the Bible and creates an "example" of what the testament is meant to teach us but she sets them in historical periods. The one I just finished was about a Hebrew slave girl in a Roman family. As accurate as she can be during that very early period of time, I learned a lot about Greek and Roman gods, the Coloseum, traditions/customs, drama and entertainment. Very eye opening yet didn't feel like I was reading something "preaching" to me. Another book she writes is called Redeeming Love set in early California gold prospecting days, again, very eye opening about the brutality of that time but also why we romanticize those frontier years.

I am currently reading The Fractured Mate by Susan Trombley.

It goes a bit out of my usual wheelhouse into sci-fi but thankfully, it feels light and accessible. Kind of reminds me of Guardians of the Galaxy for how the different alien races feel and interact. I love the protagonist Paisley. She is not your typical PNR/UF heroine, because she seems a bit more demure but that is likely due to her starting the story out as a slave on a wrecker vessel with a bomb collar on her neck. She is very clever though and very curious and I like that. Like, if she can't be totally badass, at least make her inquisitive and smart, you know? I love both Halian and Killer as characters. They play into my favorite tropes while also being opposites and I'm interested to see where that drama and interplay leads. I'm really enjoying the hel outta this.

I started Reading a book called The Impaler by Gregory Funaro. It's good so far but I stopped around chapter 15 and haven't picked it back up yet. It's hard getting back into reading again after a long time but I'm determined to finish it.
