  • Hi there Guest! This message is to let you know that leadership is aware there is an error in the posting of badges - that the image links themselves are broken. Rei is working to move the items to a different img host, but it may take a little while for the transition to be complete.

It is September already! I can personally say that I'm feeling drained and running out of writing motivation and inspiration. But it's time for the monthly writing prompt! If this inspires you to write a story, a poem, a song, or to draw or paint something, feel free to post it here, all of Umbra and I would love to see it. It doesn't have to be anything big or grand either, take what you wish from the prompt and ignore the rest, make it your own.

This month, the theme will be

"I like to inquire into everything. Hercule Poirot is a good dog. The good dog follows the scent, and if, regrettably, there is no scent to follow, he noses around — seeking always something that is not very nice."
- Hercule Poirot

I can't speak for the rest, but I've grown up with Agatha Christie, and it's my 'comfort food' when it comes to books. I love how detective stories can have it all; they can be scary and intense, funny and light, or even romantic. Your detective can be anything from a beautiful, young woman to old, stone cold man. It's a playground open for you! Same goes for the crime. Did someone lose a piece of jewellery, or was someone brutally murdered? Was there even a crime at all, or was it a scam? You decide!

Extra challenge! Make sure to include a mention of cat hair in your story.
