  • Hi there Guest. As a reminder - when you are updating/editing your threads in the Requests areas - it is sent to our approval queue to be checked against our site rules. It will take about 24 max to approve and post. Questions can be sent to Auntie Angel!
  • Hi there Guest! This message is to let you know that leadership is aware there is an error in the posting of badges - that the image links themselves are broken. Rei is working to move the items to a different img host, but it may take a little while for the transition to be complete.

Hello, my lovelies! We've done it! We've made it through to the new and improved Umbra!

It wasn't without its hurdles, but now that we've gotten the biggest one behind us (the SSL causing loading issues), we can actually sit down and put ourselves in place for more stability and growth, and I think that's one of the best ways to ring in the new year, what about you?

Now, while I've fixed the biggest of issues we were dealing with - there are still bugs and tweaks that need to be made - and things that need to be repaired - so as you see something, please continue using the bug report to turn them in.

On top of that - there are so many essential things that can be done with our site - so many opportunities for community and growth, but first, we need to ensure we can maintain it. Our current setup lasts us another year - I've gotten things paid in advance with our earlier collection (thank you all so very very much for it). We have time to breathe, but to be real, and ready - I've put together our donation areas once more, one for general site maintenance, and one for add-on additions.

To protect our community there have been some changes - as some of you have already seen - there is a new protocol to allow bumping and posting in our direct messages - a user must make at least one post in the public threads before you will be given access to DMs - additionally, we have implemented a bumping policy for your request threads - a 72 hour timer to maintain our 3 day policy.

I want to hear from you all on what you'd like to see - because this is a community, and you all deserve a voice in this as well - so you tell me what you think. How are things so far, and where do you want us to go from here?

I'm so excited to be on this journey with you.

UPDATE: I know it can be a little confusing, so to be precise - our new button-based bumping system is in replacement of the reply bumping system, where you would need to write in text to post a reply and move your thread to the top . I am in the process of attempting to find a happy medium between allowing user replies and ensuring that bumps are the primary method of organizing threads.

To help explain - I have taken a screenshot:
At the top of your thread, you will see something like this:

That 'Bump Thread' button is all you need to click to move your post to the top of the thread list in the RT area.

You still have access to editing your original post - but until I can find the best way to balance user replies and our bumping button - the post reply function has been removed in the RT areas.
Please don't panic if you see that! It is not a bug, and you are not in trouble/being muted!

That button will do everything you need!

How is this going to work for people such as myself who add update posts to show what has been updated in the RT? Without this, it makes it difficult to know what has changed or what edits I made at each stage of my RT.

Perhaps you could either bump the RT via the bump button OR add an update post which would also bump the post. Doing either will disable the opposite for the 3 day timeout.

I appreciate your input.

At this point - It is about what our resources allow us to do.

I do not currently have the bandwidth to develop a fresh coding system that balances two separate programs/add-ons - our timers on replies and bumps are two separate systems that are not built to talk to one another.

This is why I noted that "I am in the process of finding a happy medium between the two that will allow for both.

Adding to your initial post with your additional ideas is your best bet for now while I continue to try to find a balance possible for our skills and opportunities.

I tend to keep an update header or in my title itself if I change my information (like edited: 2.32 for instance). It's not ideal but it does get the message across as needed.

I was already using [Updated: YYYY-MM-DD] in my RT title, but I also like to log every change I make, with the date it was made. I've decided to merge all updates into a single post I kept as a reply to my RT, placing all updates there via editing it when changes are made.
