hello hello! just me slidin' in with a good old BBC request

i perused the other BBC thread in this folder and this may have been answered there - but i figured i'd ask anyway? just to make sure? but anyway, my old site - and a different site i still use - both work off bb code, and people often used fancyposts in their roleplays. i thought it would be a neat thing to try and integrate even though i know little to nothing about coding,,,

i realize simplicity is a priority here, as well as the fact that it just takes a while to integrate that into the way the website runs, not to mention just learning it. and its,, i mean,,

Hey luv, thanks for the suggestion. I love when y'all come to me with QUESTIONS and REQUESTS. Makes my heart gooey and warm.

This is a good suggestion and one I'd be willing to look into, however! We are going to be upgrading the site software in a few months. Because of this, incorporating any new bbcode into the site at this point is kind of pointless as all of it is going to have to be replaced at the beginning of the year/after the upgrade.

Once we do update our software, however, I would be happy to look into this further and see if we can incorporate something similar on site. I tend to be extremely picky about the site aesthetics, and highly value simplicity and cleanliness (as you noted [fa]heart[/fa]), so if something like that can be done while still keeping posts looking clean, I'd be stoked to give you all that option and open up the site to more user creativity (that is honestly the main reason why we're upgrading, I want to give you all more options and control over how your posts look).

If you could do me a huge favor and keep this request on the backburner for me, I'd be extremely grateful. I'll keep it in my notes but with everything I'll need to keep track of during the upgrade, I don't want this to get lost in the shuffle. Ping me in a few months after everything is over and I'll see what I can make happen.

So far as I am aware FancyPost is a WordPress plug-in. I do not believe it is available for forums, though if someone knows otherwise certainly feel free to correct me. If there is a magical add-on to make all our graphic and display wishes come true I'm all for chipping in~

Otherwise, I'm happy to help with custom BBcode and creating pre-built templates for users to utilize for request threads or character sheets or what-have-you.

Yeah, I would love to see custom posts with background, scrolling bars, custom fonts, and colors as well as tabs-- that'd be really cool!

TY @Sparks - I would definitely like to sit down at some point and go through what we can do. I can most likely try to get the process going on it, but I am a little green when it comes to things of this nature. So it's been a whole process.

I'll look into add-ons first and foremost, making things easier in the grand scheme of things. I really do appreciate your patience with this.

Looking back at this thread is wild because it started in October of 2020 and we just got to the update in January 2023 after so many changes and adventures. ♥ The patience and kindness of our community is something that I'm thankful for every day.
