  • Hi there Guest. As a reminder - when you are updating/editing your threads in the Requests areas - it is sent to our approval queue to be checked against our site rules. It will take about 24 hours to approve and post. Questions can be sent to Auntie Angel!
  • Hi there Guest! This message is to let you know that leadership is aware there is an error in the posting of badges - that the image links themselves are broken. Rei is working to move the items to a different img host, but it may take a little while for the transition to be complete.

Unsure of what to write about, looking for that spark or kick you need, or perhaps need a little challenge to push you to write something new? From this month on, I'll be posting a writing prompt first Monday of every month. It'll be there for your enjoyment, to use as you wish. Be it poem, short story or even a piece of visual art or music, feel free to post your creations here! I'd be happy to read, see or hear your creations, and I'm sure the rest of Umbra will agree with me.

We are starting this thing with a bang. This month's theme will be dragons!

"I desired dragons with a profound desire. Of course, I in my timid body did not wish to have them in the neighbourhood, intruding into my relatively safe world, in which it was, for instance, possible to read stories in peace of mind, free from fear. But the world that contained even the imagination of Fбfnir was richer and more beautiful, at whatever cost of peril." - J. R. R. Tolkien

Dragons are interesting beasts, they can be small or large, they can breathe fire or ice or water, and you can base their design in different animals or creatures, or even inanimate objects. Are dragons a friend, helping the hero in their quest, or are they the enemy between the hero and their goal?

Bring us your best dragon related piece of fiction, and most importantly, have fun!

Extra challenge! Make sure to include a mention of a red scarf in your story.
